A couple of weeks ago, our church hosted a Vacation Bible School. I had the privilege of leading one of the five and six year old teams. The theme for the VBS week was Gold Rush Treasure Hunt, with the emphasis on the real treasure and Rock of the Ages!
My team and I were the red Indians! I and my awesome assistants :-) had about thirteen children on our team each day. The Lord allowed me to be able to counsel children after every service. One in particular was a six year old girl named Betsy. (pictured below) She raised her hand to talk to someone during the first service on Monday night. When I asked Betsy why she had raised her hand, she said she wanted Jesus to come into her heart. So, I went through the wordless book tract with her to make sure that she understood. When I finished with the track, I asked Betsy if she wanted to ask Jesus to come into her heart and be her Saviour. She said yes! So, I prayed and she repeated after me. When we finished praying, I asked Betsy what Jesus had just done for her and she said, "Jesus came into my heart and forgave me!"
Well, the second night, Betsy again raised her hand to talk to someone. When I saw her little raised hand my heart sank a little. I, of little faith, thought that maybe she hadn't really understood the gospel. So I took her to the counseling room and asked her why she raised her hand. Her response was that she had a question about Jesus being in her heart. So, I asked Betsy what her question was. She said, " If I tell my friend about Jesus and they ask Jesus into their heart, does Jesus leave my heart and go into theirs?"
I was then able to explain to Betsy that Jesus was so big and powerful that He could be everywhere at once! So, Jesus could be in her heart and her friends heart at the same time!
As I was explaining all this to Betsy, her eyes got really big and she said, "Cooooool!"
Betsy then told me that she was going to tell all her friends about Jesus!
I am so thankful that God allowed me to be the instrument in this little girl's life to bring her to Jesus!
